You have been selected as Alternate #4 for the EAP Japan Meiji Gakuin fall 09 program.
Please read carefully your suggested options below and let me know if you have any questions. You are welcome to make an appointment to meet with me to further discuss these options. To set up an appointment, please call (949) 824-6343.
1. Apply to the EAP Japan ICU fall 09 program focusing on Contemporary Japanese Culture. Please refer to http://eap.ucop.edu/prospective_particip
2. Apply to the EAP Japan Meiji Gakuin Spring 09 program. Please note that this program was also very impacted during the last application cycle. CIE cannot guarantee placement for fall alternate students that reapply for this program. The deadline for the spring term is May 18.
3. Apply to an IOP program. Please visit http://www.cie.uci.edu/prospective/iopst
4. Apply to another EAP program in another country for fall 09. If you are flexible about which country you can go to, it may not be too late to apply to a completely different country or program. A few deadlines have not passed yet so be sure to look at http://www.cie.uci.edu/prospective/deadl
- Hong Kong (CUHK only): talk to me if interested in applying to this program
- Korea: deadline ASAP but no later than 2/13
- Singapore: 2/9 deadline
- Thailand: 2/9 deadline (I can accept late applications for the fall term)
- Vietnam: 3/2 deadline
- Denmark: 2/13 deadline
- Italy (Rome Through the Ages program): 2/17 deadline
- Mexico (US Comparative Perspectives program in Mexico City): 2/9 deadline
- Sweden: 2/23 deadline
- UK (year programs): ask for deadline
Remember that there are a lot of full immersion programs in English where you can still take Global/International Studies courses even if it's not the focus of the program. Be sure to review program details on http://eap.ucop.edu/ .
5. Remain as an alternate for the EAP Japan Meiji Gakuin fall 09 program. It may be possible that selected students withdraw from the program or that more space becomes available later on. I cannot make any guarantees at this time.

i forgot the thing i hated about japanese (and language classes in general) classes; SKITS. dumb dumb dumb skits. my weakest point is oral presentations, and skits are no exception. kimura-sensei has us writing two skits and memorizing them both, and then she will randomly select one in class for each pair to present. SUCKS. SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS. D:<
