Have you all heard of Nichelle's film from 2008? Apparently it was a gospel comedy. It is so weird and different. I don't see myself paying to see it on Amazon.com. Maybe it is floating around the net somewhere. I find myself strangely intrigued.

Here is the website.

Below is a video of her performing one of the songs from the film. I was embarrassed into laughter. It is not a bad song either.

I'm pretty sure Zoe Saldana is stalking me, because everywhere I turn, there she is (reality has no place in my world). Here are the newly released trailers for two more movies our girl is in:

Death At A Funeral:

Now I love Zoe, but it's hard for me to imagine a version of Death At A Funeral that doesn't have Alan Tudyk and Matthew McFayden in it. I loved Frank Oz's original, so all I can say is, my fellow Americans, please don't screw this up!

GameStop has posted details on the Collector's Edition of Star Trek Online, featuring $30 worth of extra collectible Star Trek goodness in a brushed aluminum 3dX holography case.

The fancy case is only the beginning for Star Trek fans willing to spend $79.99 instead of the normal retail price of $49.99 on Star Trek Online, but it sure is lovely.
It features magnetic closures and nested storage for the rest of the premium items included in the deal. Items like a combination hardbound instruction guide, art book, and disc container, or the cast metal communicator badge, styled after the one used in the game. The package also includes three credit card style buddy passes for you to share with your friends. Swanky!

The collector's edition also comes with the requisite in-game items, with a red matter capacitor for your ship and Deep Space Nine and Next Generation uniforms for your crew.

The Star Trek Online Collector's Edition will be severely limited, so if you want it, I'd highly suggest preordering as soon as possible. GameStop has an exclusive in-game Constitution Class Starship waiting for those that do.

I'm very stubborn and usually don't like to ask for help but my Christmas shopping will be decided with this help. There's a gif of Tsuyoshi live but I don't know what concert it is but I'm pretty sure it's on DVD, and if it is on DVD I'm getting it. I'm putting the gif after the cut (well at least I think I am, watch me screw up the cut) since I know not everyone can handle gifs most of the time cause of their internet. So if anyone could tell me what it's from and if there's a DVD of it that would be nice, and possibly if you know maybe tell me what song it is as well.

OH MY GOD!

IT'S AN OMEGLE PARTY!

PRIME DIRECTIVES
This is not a normal party post.
Post your OMEGLE logs, or chat amongst yourselves.
Pics/gif spam are not allowed.
Try to make your opening chat statement something Trek-related, rather than just "hi." If you are short on ideas, pretending to be a character is fun, as is quoting lines from the movie, or you can rely on the good-old "GQMF?" for amusing responses of confusion/rage. :D
And as it always has been, 10 GQMF points are automatically received for finding a wild [info]peacock! XD

HAVE FUN GO WILD. COMMENTS NOTIFICATIONS ARE OFF, YOU CRAZY GQMF'S! :D :D :D

Back to fulfill yet another request I've had sitting around all neglected for ages - and I know at least one person on my list who should be very happy to see me finally posting a Glay translation :3 The song is Coyote, Colored Darkness, and it was one of the most challenging translations I've tried in a while. x.x I think that's why I put off finishing it for so long... there's some pretty ambiguous structures and unusual vocabulary scattered around. Awesome vivid descriptions, though.

Oh, one thing to point out... there isn't a single use of personal pronouns in the song (well, except that one Engrish line, but who knows what they were going for with that *cough*), so it's unclear whether the point of view is coming from "I/me," "you," or someone else. The only thing it ever specifically refers to as actually doing/being anything is the coyote, so since it's also in the title, I dubbed it the "main character." I hope that makes sense...

Glay - Coyote, Colored Darkness

Romaji )

Armed with spines of sadness, it rides the night on the silver upstream flow
Until the scent of crisis, the slight pulse, and the crimson tracks fade away

You leave me darkness spin me down
The color of sorrow severed by the wind is a deep lead shadow in the moonlight
A pitiful coyote, the color of dead leaves, colors the darkness

It begs the blue sky for love and hate that burn deep red
Dimly glistening fangs sever reality closed off by black
Before the silver afterimage turns to ash
With its claws it carves into a white map the days its fluttering mane left behind
Now, in that place

You leave me darkness spin me down
The color of sorrow severed by the wind is a deep lead shadow in the moonlight
A pitiful coyote, the color of dead leaves, colors the darkness

Blue memories ask of a bloodline flowing with rubia
Within consciousness stained black, it remains in the silver wolf's vision
Dark brown silver salt that shines gold; a sinful life is...

It begs the blue sky for love and hate that burn deep red
Dimly glistening fangs sever reality closed off by black
Before the silver afterimage turns to ash
With its claws it carves into a white map the days its fluttering mane left behind
Now, in that place

Disclaimer: This song belongs to Glay, not me. I only take credit for the romaji and translation. I'm just a fangirl trying to make J-music a little more accessible to English speakers. No copyright infringement is intended. Please don't sue me - I'm already broke. T__T

Someone tried to post an Omegle party last weekend, but unfortunately, the post ended up in the moderation queue for about 8 hours before any of the mods saw it, so it was rejected on the grounds that it seemed unfair to the OP to drop a party long after they expected it, and when it would be buried in a pile of other posts.

But it did get me thinking, as far as I'm aware, it's been a good 3 months since we had an Omegle Party. And since it's the weekend, how about a surprise one this evening? :D

If a handful of people are game, I was thinking of starting one around 1am GMT / 8pm EST, so UK/Europe people and East-Coasters can get the ball rolling, and Central US and the West-Coasters can pick up after we've all gone to bed.

In short.

OMEGLE PARTY TONIGHT? Y/N?

Poll #1494467 Party? :D
Open to: All, detailed results viewable to: All, participants: 131

Will you attend an Omegle party this evening?

個々の回答を見る

HELL YES!
130 (100.0%)

What will your opening line be? :D

(I haven't included a 'no' option because I just want to gauge interest and see who'd be game for scaring strangers. :D)

Even if there's only a handful of us, I think it'd be fun, and people are welcome to carry it on on Saturday and Sunday night as well. If there's enough interest, I'll make a post on the community around 1am GMT where you can all get down to it, and post your chat logs.

If you don't know what Omegle is, it's basically a chat-site where you're connected to a total stranger, and the point of an Omegle party is to go on, and quote Trek until you find a fellow GQMF. But for the most part, it's fun watching non-GQMF reactions when you start screaming KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN at them. More details here.

Be there or be a number or quantity to the second power. ♥

Thank God, it's Friday! Perfect time to relax a little bit after another week. And what better way to relax than with Star Trek related goodies?

Here is the weekly post where members can post links to their own Star Trek-themed fan videos, art, fiction, crossover macros, and anything else that you feel best belongs right in here.

We recommend that you comment with a link to your journal/youtube/DeviantArt/etc, where we can all bust a gut laughing at your talent, as opposed to posting all the pictures/videos/etc in a single comment.

Punch pimp it!

HAY GURLS HAY!

I am beginning work on a solo show (basically a multimedia play, with just me onstage) about geekdoms. Specifically I'm going to be focusing on belonging and escapism in fan communities, such as this marvelous comm right here.
I'm looking for material on fandom, any fandom, all fandom. And this is where I would love your input. Hit me with any articles, essays, books, films, anything pertaining to any aspect of fandom. I realize I'm not giving much specifics to work with, but the reason is I'm interested in all of it! I figure if anybody knows where I might research geek communities, it would be ontd_st XD.

I really appreciate your help with this!

Alright. I'm possibly going to be overly-detailed and even unnecessary with the instructions, but when I'm completely new to a program and have trouble with the simplest functions, I appreciate even the steps which walk you through the tiniest mouse-click.

Keep in mind that aside from making .gifs, at the moment I have no idea how VirtualDub actually works or what else it can do, so here's a tutorial from a n00b.

Gif/Macro Commission Post!

Incase people don't understand what this post is for, I shall elaborate. Before a party post, or roughly at the end of every month, we have a gif/macro request post. It's not a gif/macro sharing post, but it's a gif/macro REQUEST post.

You can request things from Star Trek, of course! But this post is not limited to anything Trek/GQMF related. You can request gifs from ANYTHING. Disney, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Carriers, Heroes, Big Bang Theory, Flashforward, anything your heart desires!

You can also request Macros. Whether you want more Pinto, more KU "do I dazzle you?" or simply just more ~*Denny Crane*~, it's all allowed. Request whatever you like, and if you are blessed with the ability to gif, please help our GQMF's to make our next party especially browser-stunning. ♥

My Relay for Life team is starting at early as possible to raise funds for the American Cancer Society.

What does this have to do with us GQMF? Everything BBs!

Each year the Relay of Indian River County picks a theme for all the participating teams to use. (Last year's was Holidays, we picked 'Talk Like a Pirate Day" and had a blast.) This year the over all theme is Movies, so take a wild guess at to what my team called the first day they announced the new Relay? Yep it's Star Trek.

I'm not coming to the community so much for donations at the moment, though they are always appreciated, but for inspiration! Our Pirate tent/booth was rather sad looking last year and I want our part of the event to be the most GQ and happing spot on the track. Should we sell Tribbles? Make a giant Lensflare? Get some Orion slave girls? Raffle off some DVDs? Walk in costume?

I have some ideas but 6000+ heads are definitely better that one. So what would you [info]ontd_startrek, as the authority on all fun things Star Trek, love to see? And what would catch your attention to donate? Would you buy some snazzy shirts or buttons? Or would you rather get some nice Romulan Ale (a.k.a. blue kool-aid) if you were walking the track all night?

The actual Relay itself is not until April, but it normally takes my small team that whole time to raise our money and we'd like to do better than last year. This is also an open invite for anyone that lives in the Vero Beach area of Florida and would like to participate to let me know.

I only have our generic looking (and not very GQ looking at all) donation page up at the moment but if anyone our there would like to donate you can visit my page here:

I'll be working on our logo and donation page over the holidays and I'd love all of your input to make this a really memorable event to help the American Cancer Society and their quest!

The Yorkshire Evening Post posted a new interview with Star Trek The Next Generation star Patrick Stewart. Here are few excerpts.

"You may find it hard to believe but real astronauts watch Star Trek. Flight crews watch Star Trek, the military watch Star Trek. A month ago I got an astonishing e-mail saying the European space authority was inviting me to take part in a video link with a space station. I thought 'who?'

These long-term astronauts every two months are given a chance of talking to someone of their choice. A Belgian astronaut had asked for me. So I was connected to mission control in London and there was the captain of the space station. He went round with a camera, giving me a guided tour. We had 25 minutes. I made the most of my time."

They over-ran.

"After an hour Houston interrupted and said they had other things to do."

Here is the weekly post where members can link to their icons, wallpapers, macros, and other misc. graphics.

As always, we recommend you link to your journal, rather than posting all your icons in a single comment. A preview of a few icons/one of your wallpapers (preferably resized, or a thumbnail) is the way to go.

Punch it. ♥

Also, a post will be going up later today for you to request any macros/pictures/gifs you'd like to see made for the upcoming Christmas party post. :D

Good morning! Life is beautiful. Unless you're cranky, then it's not and I understand.

Just wanted to let everybody participating know about some of the dates [info]lifebehindadesk had planned.

December 1-7 - Last dates to ship internationally (overseas)
December 8-14 - Last dates to ship internationally (over land)
December 15-22 - Last dates to ship within country

We've heard from a few of you that things are being sent -- THAT'S EXCITING.

The UK is experiencing a bit of a... hiccup with regards to postal service. Hey, at least your postal workers don't drunkenly enter homes to eat noodles. That happened in my area.

I would also like to thank everyone for making this happen. We've set up a community for all of this: [info]ontd_st_ss, so as not to overwhelm the other fun. Discussion, questions, notifications, gift receiving/opening. Keep up the deceptive stratagem of anonymity!

Problems, questions, concerns, appreciation -- let us know.
